Wow very interesting. I can’t help but thinking that Mr Staddard played a more than passing part in the laying down of the “heavy Frigates” that would would be Adam’s greatest gift to the nation when a young America challenged the Superpower England in 1812. I also wonder if Mrs Staddard had any contact with Martha Jefferson Randolph (I’ve been reading her biography) Granted this wasn’t the best time for Adams and Jefferson’s relationship but one never know’s. Love your well deserved (on your behalf) snarky remarks on the Jefferson hour. Keep ‘‘em up. Don’t let the Former president get away with anything.
